What is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)?
EMDR is a type of therapy that helps people heal from painful or traumatic experiences by helping the brain process them in a healthier way.
When something really upsetting happens, sometimes your brain gets “stuck,” and the memory stays very raw—like it just happened. EMDR helps “unstick” that memory so it no longer feels so overwhelming.
During EMDR, you briefly think about the upsetting memory while doing something that stimulates both sides of your brain—like following a therapist’s fingers with your eyes, tapping your hands, or listening to sounds. This process helps your brain reprocess the memory so it can settle into the past, and you can feel more calm and in control. What is Ego State Therapy?
Ego State Therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach that helps individuals access and work with different “parts” or ego states within themselves—each representing distinct emotions, roles, or past experiences. We all have parts of “self.” By understanding and resolving inner conflicts among these states, clients can achieve emotional healing, greater self-awareness, and improved psychological well-being. This approach is similar to the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model.
